The Pet Au Pair is locally owned and operated by Cindy Calkins.
Cindy’s first experience working with animals began in 1995 volunteering weekends at The Marine Mammal Center and Wildlife Rescue, Inc., both located in the San Francisco Bay Area. In conjunction with these organizations, Cindy has rescued, rehabilitated, and released back to the wild numerous species of animals from the smallest wren to elephant seals and sea lions weighing hundreds of pounds.
After moving to New England, Cindy changed careers from chemistry to work with animals full time. She operated a small animal shelter in New Hampshire that adopted to new homes hundreds of animals. Cindy has also served five years as a veterinary technician in a busy hospital in Massachusetts offering well-pet, surgical, and emergent services.
Cindy and her family have been adopted by four cats and a dog that have traveled with them as they’ve moved across the country and are now calling Stoughton, WI home.
